  • Hardscape Crew Leader

    Hittle Landscaping is one of the largest locally owned landscaping companies in central Indiana. We have been in business for over 40 years, providing a good working atmosphere and a fun professional environment.

    The hardscape crew leader is responsible for completing landscape and hardscape installations. The position leads a crew of two to three and directs activities including the installation of paver patios, retaining walls, water features, and outdoor lighting

    Responsibilities / Qualifications:

    • Install paver patios, retaining walls, landscape lighting, and other hardscape features
    • Ability to read and implement landscape construction plans
    • Proficient heavy equipment operating skills including front end loaders, mini-excavators, and skid steer machinery with various attachments
    • Manage a team of 2-3 employees

    You must have at least 3 years of hardscape experience.

    Hittle Landscaping is seeking Irrigation Crew Leaders for the Indianapolis area. This position will include hands-on repairing and troubleshooting of irrigation systems. Irrigation Crew Leaders are responsible for ensuring the quality, timeliness and efficiency of the installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems for our commercial customers. Crew Leaders are responsible for managing the Safety, Quality, Time & Cost of their crew.

    We are seeking a motivated, hard-working leader with experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing irrigation systems. Potential applicants should have strong communication skills (English and Spanish a plus) and have the ability to operate various irrigation machinery and tools. A valid Driver’s License is required.

    Job Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Hands on Landscaping /Irrigation installation and Irrigation repair experience
    • Irrigation troubleshooting, repair and water management techniques
    • Horticulture knowledge

    The small engine mechanic under the supervision of the shop manager will be responsible for the general maintenance and repair of Hittle’ s multiple zero turning radius lawnmowers, walk behind mowers, blowers, weed eaters, etc.

    Duties:

    • Perform work in a timely manner
    • Assist with maintenance and preparation of snow equipment
    • Assist with ‘off-season” inventory and maintenance of all equipment
    • Adhere to company policies and safety practices
    • Professionally communicate equipment needs

     

    Education, Experience, & Skills

    Required:

    • Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical diagnostics
    • At least 1 year small engine experience
    • Hold a valid driver’s License
    • Be able to lift 75lbs or more
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal

    Overview of Position

    Hittle is seeking a qualified professional to join and lead our shop and fleet operations.  The Shop/Fleet Manager will ensure all vehicles and equipment are in safe working condition and available to meet the company’s operating needs.  They will manage a comprehensive shop and fleet program which includes tracking of inventory, maintenance, repairs and replacement of all vehicles and equipment. The Shop/Fleet Manager works closely with the Senior Leadership Team to anticipate and meet the company’s strategic goals regarding fleet related items.

    Essential Job Responsibilities

    • Provides leadership, coaching, development and supervision of all departmental staff.
    • Coordinates all shop and fleet staffing requirements including scheduling in accordance with company, state, local and federal rules and regulations.
    • Provides leadership in establishing priorities and strategic plans promoting short and long-term departmental objectives in line with company goals.
    • Develops and implements vehicle and equipment strategies, maintenance and repair programs to ensure smooth and cost-efficient operation.
    • Ensures fleet vehicles and equipment are operated in compliance with company policies and DOT rules and regulations.
    • Provides leadership, coaching and supervision to a shop team comprised of five (5) mechanics.
    • Identifies opportunities to reduce cost, improve driver behaviors, maximize fuel efficiency and increase productivity.
    • Prepares and submits new vehicles and equipment RFPs to preferred vendors and partners.
    • Continuously seeks opportunities for improvement.
    • Proactively define shop and fleet KPIs and appropriate maintenance of KPI reporting.
    • Develops and maintains an operating budget of the and department provides financial input to improve budget accuracy as well as fleet reinvestment and asset retirement.
    • Maintains an ongoing preventative maintenance and replacement plan for vehicles and equipment.
